Meet Baci Hillyer - Founder of Deadicate

I’ve walked with the wounds of death for over 37 years, and that lived experience became the compass guiding me into what I now know will be my life’s work. I spent over 2 years volunteering in palliative care, sitting at bedsides and walking alongside people at the end of life. Those moments taught me the power of love, presence, dignity, and choice and reaffirmed my lifelong belief in voluntary assisted dying, a legal, compassionate and vital part of end-of-life care.

Through Live Well, Leave Well, I blend radical realism with compassion and courage, with the aim of socialising death and dying into our daily lives. Through soul-grounded storytelling, honest conversation, practical tools, and modern technology, I encourage people to prepare for the inevitable well in advance. I truly hope that one day soon, engaging an end-of-life doula will be the new normal and that death is welcomed back into the home and the village where it has always belonged.

Grief does not wait for permission. Neither should preparation

My Story

“We’re all just walking each other home.” – Ram Dass

A few years ago, I worked with Big Stories Little Films to capture my story, the grief that shaped me, the lessons I’ve carried, and why I do this work. It’s raw, real, and deeply personal. I share it here because I believe our stories are what connect us, heal us, and remind us that we’re not alone in navigating life, death, and everything in between.
